The Covelano quarry is one of the highest marble quarrys in Europe, located at 2,200 m above sea level, embedded in the breathtaking mountain scenery of the Central Alps, amidst the Stelvio National Park. Due to the exposed alpine position, marble can only be quarried during the summer when there is no snow. Quarrying takes place in underground and over ground mining.
